Update Regarding Student Course Withdrawal Process

Back to Provost and Dean of the Faculty Announcements

Dear Faculty,

In fall 2023, the Academic Affairs Board instituted changes in the processes associated with students withdrawing from a course at °Ä²Ê¿ª½±.

Previously, adviser and instructor approval was required before being allowed to withdraw from a course. As of this spring (spring 2024), for all students, they must consult with the course instructor and their faculty adviser before initiating the withdrawal process, but faculty approval is not required. The one exception is that students may not withdraw from their FSEM.

Important information on course withdrawals and the potential impact on financial aid, academic progress, athletic eligibility, and visa status is available online.

Any questions regarding the new process may be directed to the Office of the Registrar, and questions regarding the logic for the changes may be directed to me or any member of the Academic Affairs Board.
