The Saturday night appearance by the critically acclaimed Harlem Gospel Choir is open to the general public and also will be available through the university’s live webcast service.
The choir (pictured at left) will perform in Memorial Chapel as part of the annual Gospel Fest celebration, which also features the university’s Sojourners Gospel Choir and other gospel groups from central New York.
Anyone who can’t get to campus can visit to watch the live performance. No passwords or special software is required and, for the first time, the live webcast will be automatically optimized for mobile devices. A Livestream is available for iPhones and will soon be available for Android devices.
“We have installed three robotic cameras in Memorial Chapel and a new delivery mechanism that will make sure the live feed is optimized for all platforms,” said Technology Director Rich Grant.
The live webcast series continues at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 26, with a concert by the IJʿ Orchestra.
Grant and Ray Nardelli, managing director of digital media, are finalizing a full schedule of live webcasts that will include performances by student a cappella groups and Dancefest. More details on show dates and times will be available on the IJʿ .
