In this , Assistant Dean and Director of International Student Services Kerra Hunter talks about supporting °Ä²Ê¿ª½±â€™s international student population, which currently hails from 44 countries around the world, and the ways the University works to make their transition to studying in the United States as seamless as possible.
Hunter has been with °Ä²Ê¿ª½± since 2012, when she became an assistant director of residential life. Since then, she has held the roles of director of residential programs and liaison to the ALANA Cultural Center.
In her current position, which Hunter has held since 2017, she works to oversee and support the University’s international student population, assisting with international orientation and educational programming, federal immigration policy, visa applications, and acting as the University’s designated officer for the federal Student and Exchange Visitor Program.
Hunter also acts as the direct dean for all 278 international students on campus (and another 41 recent graduates) in partnership with Makiko Fuller. In addition to all of her work with international students, Hunter is the co-chair of °Ä²Ê¿ª½±â€™s staff affirmative action oversight committee, a member of the university conduct board, prohibited conduct response group, the ALANA Affairs committee, the Diversity Equity and Inclusion Committee, and is now part of the Diversity Equity and Inclusion search committee for °Ä²Ê¿ª½±â€™s Chief Diversity Officer.
Hunter earned her bachelor of science from Rutgers University and her master of education in post-secondary education from Salisbury University in Maryland.
