D’Jonita Cottrell ’19, an educational studies and psychology double major from Brockton, Mass., has won �IJʿ���’s 1819 Award.

The Mat transforms the flexible, open space of Parker Commons into a vibrant venue where student and professional artists come together to perform music for the community.

�IJʿ��� has fulfilled its commitment to achieving carbon neutrality in 2019, its Bicentennial year. The University is now the first institution of higher education in New York State to reduce its net carbon emissions to zero.

The �IJʿ��� community comes together each year to celebrate sustainability during 13 Days of Green. This �IJʿ��� tradition, with programs leading up to Earth Day, highlights local and global sustainability challenges and initiatives, and demonstrates what individuals can do to inspire change.

�IJʿ���'s 2019 Queerfest, a week of events destigmatizing queer identities and educated allies, exploring pleasure in a non-heteronormative way, and supporting queer artists, took place in March.

Rabbi Barry R. Baron, former command chaplain in the U.S. Army Civil Affairs and Psychological Operations Command (Airborne) at Fort Bragg, N.C., has been named associate university chaplain and campus rabbi at �IJʿ���, effective June 15.

The �IJʿ��� community kicked off its annual celebration of sustainability, 13 Days of Green, with games and opportunities to learn about sustainable initiatives, April 10, on the academic quad.

�IJʿ���’s Leadership tradition, 200 years in the making, was on full display last weekend as alumni, parents, students, faculty, staff, and friends gathered for a series of celebratory events on campus.

A performance of the opera “Pushed Aside: Reclaiming Gage”, on Matilda Gage’s efforts — alongside those of Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth Cady Stanton — for women’s right to vote, made its way to campus.
