Overview
On the South Africa Study Group, students spend a full academic semester living and learning in Cape Town. The group is accompanied by a °Ä²Ê¿ª½± faculty director who teaches part of the students’ course load.
The study group’s operations are embedded with the University of Cape Town, giving participants the opportunity to live and study with South African students as well as with other international students at the university.
Academic Focus
The study group to South Africa is an interdisciplinary program and open to students of all majors. The specific focus of any given study group to Cape Town will depend upon the °Ä²Ê¿ª½± faculty member who is directing the group. The directorship rotates between the group’s affiliated departments and programs.
Students will take courses within a broad range of disciplines at a world-class research and teaching university. Participants in this program will be grounded in South Africa’s social and environmental context, and will be challenged to grapple with historical layers of inclusion and exclusion as well as vulnerability to environmental hazards.
